Havens and Harbours LNER poster, 1923-1947. 0001-3101

Poster produced for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote the rail travel to the havens and harbours served by the railway. The poster shows an illustration of the harbour at Lowestoft, Suffolk, with a ship tied to a jetty and the quay in the background. Artwork by Frank Henry Mason (1876-1965), who was educated at HMS Conway and spent time at sea. He painted marine and coastal subjects and was involved in engineering and shipbuilding. In addition to LNER, he also designed railway posters for the North Eastern Railway (NER) and Great Western Railway (GWR).
