Though we're shown the #12 car-an experimental Ferrari entry-as it roars its way through the grueling twenty-four hour Le Mans endurance test, it was actually the #10 car that would take the checkered flag, another Ferrari, covering almost 2,782 miles at an average speed of 116 miles-per-hour. 1961 represented the fifth Ferrari victory at Le Mans, who put three cars in the first three positions. The #12 car-even though it retired in the thirteenth hour of the race-was historic in that it was the prototype of the future GTO. Despite some aerodynamic and engine problems, the car displayed amazing potential.
