The United War Work Campaign was an initiative put together to raise awareness and funding for nonmilitary relief services, namely the Y.M.C.A., the Knights of Columbus, the Salvation Army, the Jewish Welfare Board, the American Library Relief Association, the Y.W.C.A. and the War Camp Community Service. Because in the end, it's always easier--and rightfully so--to remember the soldiers who put their life on the line than it is the support workers who keep the military functional. The approach taken here is straightforward and wholesome, an unforced reminder about the realities of wartime production. Though another name appears on the design, that name is merely the pseudonym of Adolph Treidler, an artist best remembered for his work in the tourist trade.
