The passenger's boarding scene affords the unknown artist an opportunity to impress us with the gigantic liner. The Leviathan was actually built by the Germans in 1914 as the Vaterland, but after World War I it was seized by the United States and renamed; it ran the trans-Atlantic route until 1934.
