Beautiful woman looking over her shoulder with butterflies surrounding her. Loie Fuller did not actually use butterflies in her act, but they are there to show the colorful effects she created by dancing in gauzy fabrics under kaleidoscopic spotlights. Born in Illinois, the one-time obscure actress made such a splash in Paris where she introduced the act in the fall of 1892 that she moved to Europe permanently. This may well be the very first poster ever created for her.
