A heroic conception announces the Sokol jamboree in Prague in 1912. The Sokol was ostensibly a sports club devoted mainly to calisthenics, but secretly a patriotic Czech organization (forbidden under Austrian rule) trying to arouse nationalistic fervor among the Czech minority. The Sokol held quadrennial meetings, much like the Olympics, and this poster announces the 1912 edition-the last one still held under Austrian rule, as World War I, which started two years later, freed the Czechs from the Austrian domination.

*Images are purposely low resolution on this site, actual prints are well focused and the cleanest possible editions. We remain true to the original poster's size and best resolution. We retain the original aspect and as high a resolution as possible of the artwork. There will be white space around the image as we do not alter the original dimensions of the art when printing.
