Mention the word zeppelins and the images most likely to pop into peoples minds would be that of an exploding Hindenberg or a promotional blimp hovering above a sporting event. This poster however, blows away those visions like last weeks paper airplanes. The potent iconoclasm of this uncredited Soviet design for a Leninist airship squadron from the Krasnodar Council of Passenger Aviation is so inspirationally forward-minded that its communist overtones matter little in comparison to its industrial exuberance. Granted, theres the typical political posturing of the time, involving labor, defense and strength through numbers, but theres a textual inclusion not frequently seen on posters of any affiliation: At the top left, we are informed that a copy of this work can be had for sixty kopecks.
