To advertise Lithographies Originales, de Feure created a highly decorative poster in subtle pastel tones. Note, for example, how the yellows are made much more lustrous and vivid by being contrasted with nothing but grays; there being no other colors present, the effect is one of restraint and gentility, a mark of patrician good taste. Obviously, only the culturally elite would appreciate this publication, and the lady with the appraising look is a fair specimen of the clientele it seeks. The proof she is holding has come fresh off the lithographic stone, seen lower right. There were two identical posters published; one featured the contents of Album no. 2 and was printed by Minot, this one, advertising Album no. 1, was printed by Lemercier.
