Monte Carlo Pigeon Skeet Shoot Poster 0000-1118

Monte Carlo never permitted gambling to be an advertised drawing card, and, in fact, the city offered all sorts of sporting and social events to the well-heeled winter traveler seeking diversion in a Mediterranean climate. Here in the rosy glow of sunset, Hohenstein's shotgun totoing gentleman makes a strong appeal on behalf of the pleasures of pigeon shooting. Hohenstein divides the design in half diagonally with an extravagant Art-Nouveau swirl of flat color that also serves as background for the text. The original poster has sold at auction for $2,500 -$3,000
