Van Houten's Cacao 0000-0985

The great Belgian art nouveau master is at his best in this poster for Van Houtens Cocoa. Maurice Demeur, on seeing it at the time it was printed, praised it: its suave young lady, with a wild head of hair, lifting, in a graceful manner, a cup of steaming cocoa, whose escaping vapors frame this delectable painting. A light and silky garment, in yellow, clear and green tints, with here and there some chrysanthemums strewn about as usual, reveals to the spell-bound eye the pure lines of a young and graceful body. (Estampe & Affiche, 1898, p. 16). This is a smaller format.
