Dusseldorf Art & Crafts Exposition 0000-0839

Painter and fresco artist Lang was born in Vienna but spent the years between 1900 and 1922 in Dusseldorf; after that, he resided in Munich. From his Dusseldorf period comes this interesting poster for a season-long exhibition of art and landscape design in 1904. The poster is dominated by a large empty red space, tensely framed by two elaborate vertical elements-a woman holding a decorative wand and a flowering branch-altogether a richly restrained example of jugendstil design. woman wand flowers branch tree peach German Germany Dusseldorf Lang 1904 exhibition art design landscape fresco painter Viennese Vienna century
