The first step the Stenbergs took.was to revise the notion of how a movie was to be advertised. Heretofore, the most common method employed.was to illustrate a particularly dramatic scene from the film, preferably one featuring the star..In contrast, the Stenbergs tried to capture the overall mood or atmosphere of a film and rarely depicted specific narrative moments. They often worked quikly after viewing a film, producing a finished design overnight. A Stenberg poster is about implication, an allegory composed of small, separate signs. (Stenberg/MoMA, p.15).
