Alexander The Man Who Knows Magic 0000-0625

This stellar 3-sheet promotion encourages the viewer to Ask Alexander about anything that may be troubling you: questions concerning your wife, lover, husband, sweetheart, who is true to you and who is false, whom you will marry and when..Should you buy, sell or mortgage?..If you are lucky? In fact, Alexander will answer any questions. Just write the same at home, seal in any manner you desire, bring to the theatre and you will be answered directly and comprehensively. Thus did Alexander the Great (born Claude Alexander Conlin, Sr. in 1880) advertise his abilities as a seer and wizard..It has been estimated that Alexander made over $1 million as The Man Who Knows. (He) was a vaudeville headliner from the early 1900s into the 1930s..Not everyone accepted his word as truth. In 1925, the Internal Revenue Service sued him for $130,000 in back taxes though he claimed to have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in business..Although this and other posters portray him in Indian garb and all indicate that they are printed by Av Yaga, Bombay this was probably meant to add luster and authority to the eastern mysticism he spouted and no doubt they were all printed in the United States (Magic Posters, p. 14).
