Surely one of the most grandiose concepts for advertising a bicycle--the woman glorifying the machine with a laurel wreath in a formal setting, the whole scene in an opulent gold frame. Columbia bicycles sponsored a poster contest in 1896; the winner was Maxfield Parrish of Philadelphia, second prize went to 0. Rohn of Montclair, N.J. and third prize (for this image) went to A. Romes of New York City. It was so popular that it was reprinted in Germany and in France. Columbia Chainless is a brand name of the Pope Manufacturing Co.

Giclée Art Prints are printed on museum-quality art paper.

Our modern black wood frames are handmade in the USA and feature acrylic glazing and quality matboard.

All of our images are digitized from the original artwork or original negative, then printed and assembled in the USA to museum standards by our master printer.

All of our products are custom made by hand to order. Please allow 3–4 weeks for production and an additional 1–2 weeks for shipping anywhere in the world.
