Throughout the 1960s, the Doyle Dane Bernbach advertising agency, with Bill Bernbach as its creative art director, consistently created ground-breaking campaigns for various products and services that broke many old rules and set new standards in the competitive world of advertising. The series for Levy's Jewish Rye Bread may well have been the tastiest of them all. Each poster had the same simple copy, only the photograph changed every few weeks, showing ordinary people of from various walks of life, even kids, each in his or her way startlingly incongruous with the ethnic concept of the product.
