This scene of ""thirty international clowns, grotesques, comics, Pulcinellos & harlequins...odd tricks, funny capers and acrobats"" displays the masterful composition, charming rendering and superb lithography that made Strobridge the premier printer of show posters at the turn of the century. The phrase at the bottom, ""15 new united shows,"" refers to the fact that the circus had only recently begun to be prmoted under the joint Barnum and Bailey name.
