An outstanding design worthy of the exemplary instrument it promotes. On every level, this Axster-Heudtlass design is all but flawless. Rarely does one come across a poster that conveys such passion with utter musicality, drawing the viewer into a lush maelstrom of texture that sweeps them along towards a turbulent world of harmonious obsession. Add onto this narrative so powerful that facial necessity becomes a redundant preponderance and eye-pleasing commercial art suddenly transubstatiates into something far more significant--it becomes an evocation that stirs the soul. A remarkable poster for Steinway & Sons, an enterprise that remains a testament to individual craftsmanship in an age of mass production. Founded 1853 by German immigrant Henry Engelhard Steinway in a Manhattan Varick Street loft, the first piano produced by the company was sold to a New York family for $500. It is now displayed at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
