In this 2-sheet poster, the juxtaposition of somber-faced ordinary citizens against the red color of the revolutionary flag superbly encapsulates the Stenbergs approach to film promotion. The first step the Stenbergs took.was to revise the notion of how a movie was to be advertised. Heretofore, the most common method employed.was to illustrate a particularly dramatic scene from the film, preferably one featuring the star..In contrast, the Stenbergs tried to capture the overall mood or atmosphere of a film and rarely depicted specific narrative moments. They often worked quikly after viewing a film, producing a finished design overnight. A Stenberg poster is about implication, an allegory composed of small, separate signs. (Stenberg/MoMA, p.15).
