A moving, direct work promoting a benefit Evening of the Arts for the Main Fund of 1933 at Amsterdam's Municipal Theater with all the proceeds for the event going to Jewish refugees. The beautiful simplicity of the work displays symbols of theater, music and oration alongside a Star of David and a burning hourse or synagogue, with the Hebrew characters present forming a combination of two words in a stirring, direct appeal to God for salvation: ""Save me."" Schwarz, a painter and graphic designer, received his formal training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam and went on to become a member of the Hollandse Kunstenaarskring. Tragically, Schwarz himself perished during the Holocaust at Auschwitz.
