Paul Colin's life was immersed in that of the French music hall, beginning with his appointment in 1925 as decorator of the Theatre de Champs Elysees, where he would launch a prolific career as a posterist, designer and illustrator. In many ways his posters excelerated the elevation of Josephine Baker to star status.
