One of Alo's idiosyncrasies was a fascination with country patterns, and he often worked roof tiles or cobblestoned streets into his tourism posters. Here, he does it with the exposed timbers of the quaint inn which advertises its services with this poster. It establishes the old-fashioned atmosphere of the tranquil little town of Pont-Audemer, which lies on a small river in the Normandy countryside between Caen and Rouen.
