1938 Nurburgring Grand Prix Poster 0000-2747

Little is known of Hierl save that he produced a number of fine posters for prestigious auto races during the 1930s. Since the Nazi hierarchy, from Hitler on down, attached great importance to German achievements in motoring, we can assume the artist must have been well connected among the Party bigwigs. The German Grand Prix were usually run at the 14.2-mile long Nurburgrng track near Cologne (second-longest in Europe) with Hitler personally in attendance. This is the rare French language version of the poster; it was the last year before the start of hostilities in Europe, so visitors from abroad were still being sought.
