Reis Mistera Lloyda (Mr. Lloyd's Journey) 0000-2554

Originally titled ""Ivan Kozyr,"" this Soviet film tells the story of a former member of the White Guards who escaped after the Revolution and is now returning from abroad by ship under a false identity. Also on board is a young woman, Tatiana. Kozyr makes a play for her, but so does the ship's master, Captain Lloyd, and the plot thickens. The film ran into trouble with the censors: first, the title seemed to make an old White Guardist the hero, so that was changed. Second, the narrative style was escapist, with none of the usual heavy-handed propoganda, which caused the critics to brand it intellectually bankrupt and give it that Soviet kiss of death: ""Hollywood-like.""
