Puccini' s classic adaptation of abandonment and betrayal is displayed with tragic beauty in this poster for an Italian/Japanese co-production of ""Madama Butterfly."" Sparse in scenic elements, Brini's work presents Cho-Cho-San, fragile and delicately perched at the threshold of truth, with her son blind-folded from the tragedy about to play itself out. Although the story had been done several times before, this was the first film version done strictly as an opera.
