For the French Release of the 1933 Hollywood blockbuster, a terrific image of the big ape - who looms too large to quite fit within the borders of this two-sheet poster - tearing up a tree and sending his hunters tumbling into a chasm. Three years earlier, and almost certainly not coincidentally, the film's directors, Merian Cooper and Ernest Schoedsack, had traveled to Sumatra and made a documentary about orangutangs.
