Spinelly 0000-1398

Andree Spinelly was born in Paris in 1890. After appearing in all the major music halls of Paris, as well as in Cocran's Revue of 1926 in London and Ziegfeld's Midnight Frolic in New York in 1927 among others, she began a career in radio and recording in the late 1920's and moved onto films in the 1930's. She played a spy in two of her early films and became type cast in such roles. Although Gesmar's career is closely associated with that of Mistingett, his very first poster, dating to 1916 at the age of sixteen, was, in fact, for Spinelly. It is said that it was Spinelly who discovered Gesmar a year earlier. A far sunnier side of the performer is shown her; in stark contrast to a later Gesmar work for Spinelly, there's no trace of a femme fatale to be found, jus the rainbow disposition of an artist in full flight.
