Spanish Victoria Fosforos Match Poster 0000-1243

With matches given away free at cash registers and used as advertising vehicles at every restaurant today, we have to remind ourselves that, until recently, Europeans and South Americans often had to pay for them. Considering the small cost of the item - three boxes for 10 centavos here - this poster is a spectacular outlay of talent. We see the face of this genial gentleman only by the light of the match he cups in his hand. The swirl of is cigarette smoke conjures up dozens of smiling women impressed by his savoir-faire. Rare!
