Brussels Pipe Automobile Roadster Poster 0000-1132

In the childhood of the auto age, when the Belgian auto industry was a major force, the Pipe was on of its most successful products. It was tuned out by the Compagnie Belge de Construction Automobiles of Brussels from 1898 to1922. In this painting, the maquette for the poster in the following lot, a boy watches the new - a jaunty red Pipe - roll by against the old; the picturesque Brussels skyline, dominated by the vast Palais de Justice. The artists signature, lower left, in not clear.
