A luscious Art Nouveau design, executed with most meticulous workmanship and printed in exceptionally rich colors on silk, for a well known liqueur. Note how the peacocks feathers make an ideal decorative addition to the womans ensemble. Camps, a Spaniard who spent most of his career in France, was one of a number of artists hired by the Champenois printing house to fill the void when Mucha left for America in 1904. Creating both advertising and decorative works. Camps eventually found his own grooveE?E?less graphic than Mucha and more akin to oil painting, marked by soft edges and shadings, as well as loads of sentiment. And all of Camps subtle indulgence is lushly highlighted in this silk printing, creating a warmth and richness not attainable with mere paper.
