Since the Nazi hierarchy, from Hitler on down, attached great importance to German achievements in motoring, we can assume the artist must have been well connected among the Party bigwigs. The German Grand Prix were usually run at the 14.2-mile long Nurburgrng track near Cologne (second-longest in Europe) with Hitler personally in attendance.
